It is not that I am against IT; I just want to let people know that there is something beyond IT.
Yes it is true that the salary, benefits and perks given by the IT companies are mesmerizing that makes even an NON-IT engineer to get spell bounded to become an IT professional. But guys think long term.....
Today we could see a lot of statistics and other news coming up which shows that this IT boom is going to become volatile in a few years. It is open to the fact that the job opportunities in the core field are not easily available as compared to IT jobs but with a little bit of determination will really help you get it. With regards to salary, you can’t expect an initial blast off, but with experience you can really increase your pay scale. Even some core companies give a good initial salaries, which will be pretty good choice to opt. Also the field and the technology you are opting play a vital role. So people do not value your job with the initial pay, think long term. As the oil and gas fields are increasing for meeting day to day demand there are lot of job opportunities coming up. Many core companies are opting India as their engineering centers as the resources are easily available.
